Measuring emissions on vessels
In the maritime industry, measuring VOC and methane emissions and saving energy on vessels is paramount for both environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
Fugitive emissions, sometimes overlooked, refer to unintentional leaks of gases or vapors from various components or from the flare onboard vessels. Energy systems such as compressed air installations should also be checked to detect and repair potential losses.
Addressing these emissions and energy losses does not only minimize the environmental impact but it also reduces costs. Moreover, measuring, reporting, and verifying methane emissions also helps LNG vessels and vessels transporting oil meet compliance with OGMP 2.0 and the new EU Methane Regulation.
Efficient measurement techniques are therefore crucial. Advanced technologies include handheld FID/PID devices, infrared cameras, and High Flow Sampling for emission quantification. These tools enable rapid identification of leaks, allowing for prompt repairs and preventive maintenance.
Our experts measure emissions and detect energy losses on:
- gas tankers transporting LNG, LPG, CNG, or liquefied chemical gases in bulk
- different types of FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) including FSOs, FDPSOs, and FSRUs
- oil tankers
- chemical tankers transporting chemical products such as ammonia
OGMP 2.0 compliance
OGMP requires LNG vessels and vessels transporting oil to measure, report, and verify methane emissions. We can help.
The EU Methane Regulation has launched
LNG vessels and vessels transporting oil must now meet the MRV requirement as stated in the Regulation. We support you.
