Due to our rapid growth, Intero Integrity Services is hiring for a Financial Analyst in our Toronto location.
Position Summary
Reporting to Regional Finance Manager, this role serves as a key member of the finance team responsible for general ledger analysis, tax compliance, lease/insurance administration, process improvement, and cross-functional project support. This role executes close activities, drives accurate cost allocations by service line, maintains strong internal controls, and enhances reporting to support timely, data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
Financial & General Ledger Analysis
- Execute month-/quarter-/year-end close tasks per the month end calendar; prepare and post journals (accruals, prepaids, reclasses) with accuracy.
- Perform reconciliations for cash/bank, credit cards, provisions, fixed assets, and key suspense accounts, clear aged items in a timely manner.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations, transfer pricing calculations, and recharges; resolve mismatches and FX impacts.
- Analys cost allocations by service line/cost center using defensible drivers, ensuring fair allocation in accordance with internal controls.
Tax Compliance
- Prepare tax packs/schedules for corporate income tax; support provisions, true-ups, and external filings.
- Manage indirect taxes (e.g., GST/HST/PST/VAT): returns, reconciliations, remittances, and audit responses.
- Maintain tax GL accounts and subledgers; reconcile balances to filings and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor cross-border/treaty/withholding considerations and registration requirements in coordination with advisors.
Lease & Insurance
- Administer lease accounting: ROU asset/liability set-up, modifications, interest, depreciation, and disclosures.
- Calculate and book provisions (legal, restructuring, onerous contracts, warranties); reassess based on new evidence.
- Source and evaluate insurers/brokers; manage renewals, endorsements, certificates, and claims to closure.
- Track premiums and coverage vs. risk profile; benchmark costs and recommend optimization opportunities.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Document end-to-end SOPs for accounting, tax, and reporting; implement controls, checklists, and ownership matrices.
- Identify automation opportunities (ERP, workflow); improve data quality, master data, and close-calendar discipline.
- Lead/assist ERP upgrades and integrations; define requirements and ensure cut-over/data migration integrity.
- Enhance reporting (dashboards/Power BI) by driving continuous improvement with measurable outcomes.
Project Participation
- Join as finance partner in cross-functional projects (e.g., ERP implementations, software upgrades, operational restructures), ensuring accurate integration of accounting practices.
- Contribute to initiatives that improve financial systems and processes from scoping and requirements to testing and deployment, ensuring alignment with business needs.
What you should bring to the team
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance with month-end close, GL reconciliations, and tax compliance.
- Solid understanding of indirect and corporate tax fundamentals.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with an ERP system (e.g., MS Dynamics/BC).
- Demonstrated experience with intercompany accounting, consolidation, FX impacts, and cost allocation by service line/cost center.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate financial insights and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply critical thinking and a proactive approach to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve processes.
- Guide team members and foster their professional development while maintaining a collaborative environment.
- Thrive in a fast-paced setting, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
Considered Assets
- Professional designation (CPA, CMA, ACCA) or in progress.
- Experience with Power BI (or similar) for dashboarding reporting and with process automation/workflow tools.
- Exposure to transfer pricing computations and documentation.
- Prior involvement in ERP implementations, data migrations, or system integrations.
- Industry experience with multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
